This pu'erh tea is a sheng maocha, made from gushu (Old Tree) trees on Kunlu Mountain. Sheng puerh refers to the uncooked, raw style of puerh tea, while maocha refers to loose leaf that has not undergone aging yet. While this tea is already ready for drinking, it can also aged, or be used to press cakes.

The 100-year-old tea trees produce leaves that create very sweet, smooth, and lasting flavors. There is a cool mint aftertaste that rises from the back of the throat, and lingers pleasantly. Only certain types of tea trees, like the old tea trees from Kuanhong Village, can produce this profile in sheng puerh.
